The shortest year ever

My dearest Knox & Ryder,

The clock has officially struck midnight. It is officially April 14, 2011 and the two of you are officially 1 year old. How could this be? It seriously feels like yesterday when Daddy and I found out we were having 2 babies! We felt like the luckiest people in the world - and still do.

Leading up to the big day

Recap: In the middle of the night on Sunday, April 11 I awoke with contractions and we headed to the hospital.

I finally called my mom back in Oklahoma and let her know what was going on. She immediately gathered her things and headed to Nashville.

Let the rest begin...

So now for the good stuff. If words like dialated, contractions, etc. freak you out, you might not want to read this. This is mainly for my benefit so I don't forget the details!

During the visit from my mother, sisters and friend Lindsey, we did a lot of shopping and work getting everything ready for the boys. I knew this was the last chance I would have help before the babies arrived, so I took full advantage of it. I paid for it....

Baby Shower Memories

Here are a few pictures from our Baby Shower on March 20th at Bluegrass Yacht and Country Club where I worked. My mom and sisters worked hard on the shower and Bluegrass did a great job with the set up and the food. Kelly's parents even came all the way from Kansas! I was enormous at 31 weeks - got put on bed rest the following Tuesday and had those boys just 3 weeks later. Still can't believe I made it that long before bed rest.

Best Christmas Eve Ever!

When we went to our ultrasound appointment on November 16, I wanted SO bad to know the sexes of the babies. I was only 13 weeks along, so it wasn't clear yet what we were having but the ultrasound tech told us that it looked like one might be a boy, but it was really hard to tell. Even before this ultrasound, I knew they were both boys. I wasn't even looking at baby girl names. I wrote some down just incase, but I just knew I was having boys. I remember telling our next door neighbor I knew we were going to have boys and she said "That means you're going to have girls".

Chapter 2: Go Tell It On The Mountain

This chapter is how we told the secret of Baby A and Baby B. Telling our family, work and friends.

Now was the hard part of deciding when and how to tell people. Ideally, we would have liked to tell our family in person, but it was going to be hard to do with them living in Oklahoma and Kansas. We had originally decided to stay in Nashville for Thanksgiving so we didn't have to take any vacation days, but this seemed like a good reason to take a road trip.

Whoa Baby!

This is the story of how Kelly and I found out I was pregnant with one baby.....and then two!

This wild ride all started on Friday, October 2, 2009. Flu season was in full swing with this new Swine Flu making rounds all around the country - and right in my office. There was a case of Swine Flu diagnosed to someone at work and after hearing this news, I was convinced I had it too. I had a major headache and was told that was one of the first signs. So after lunch I headed home to rest and Google symptoms and cures. On my way home I called Kelly to tell him the bad news and he immediately did the Google search for me. He confirmed that a headache was a sign and there was a shot you could get. Problem was that you had to be a child or be pregnant to get the shot. A lightbulb went off in my head. Oh crap - could I be pregnant? Surely not. I wasn't nauseous, I just didn't feel myself. My mind started going 90 miles a minute and I did some math and realized it could be possible. Knowing it would freak Kelly out - I asked if he could Google the symptoms of pregnancy. You could hear a pin drop as he quietly did what I asked. Come to find out, headaches were first signs of pregnancy. Well - it could be either one.
